The story so far

We came to Nepal in January 2000 and began studying the Nepali language and culture in Pokhara – Nepal’s second biggest city, also the Head Quarters of the International Nepal Fellowship’s work in Nepal.

Since then we have been back to Europe in 2003 and 2006 for deputation, three times briefly for the delivery of our three children, and then also in 2008/9 for a year of re-training.

Our first working roles were in Pokhara, James helping develop management ideas for INF’s work for people with disabilities, and Sandra in the Accident and Emergency ward of the Government Hospital.

As time went on, James become more involved in the management of INF and Sandra’s time was more taken up with our growing family – although she still volunteered to go on medical camps into very remote districts.

In Januray 2003, after much prayer and consideration, we moved to Surkhet, where James took over the leadership of INF’s work there. Surkhet is a beautiful place, but was very much affected by the civil war raging through the land at that time.

Surkhet has a lot of poverty and sadness where families will work for very little money breaking stone, or ploughing fields. However, it also has hope! The church in Surkhet has grown rapidly over the past 30 years and now extends out into several small ministries. It is our pleasure to play a small part of God’s blessing of Nepal.
